A hot air balloon in Texas has reportedly been cashed in US state of Texas. It caught fire and killed all 16 people on board.

Aviation officials said the balloon came down near Lockhart, south of the city of Austin, after catching fire.

The accident occurred shortly after 7:40am (1240 GMT), when the balloon crashed into a field near Lockhart, around 30 miles (50 miles) south of Austin, Lynn Lunsford of the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

Texas media, quoting the sheriff in Caldwell County, said there did not appear to be any survivors.
