'This is the saddest photo I have ever taken' says grand daughter who captures couple's agonising separation

A heart-touching photograph of an elderly couple is going viral on social media for all the right reasons. The Canadian couple married for 62 years before they were forced to live separately in different nursing homes in Surrey, sobbing, because no beds were available for them together.

The photograph caught attention when their granddaughter Ashley Bartyik shared their struggle to be together on Facebook. Soon after she posted it on Facebook, the photograph garnered massive support for the elderly couple.

Narrating their heart-wrenching story Ashley goes on, 83-year-old Wolfram and 81-year-old Anita reside in separate health care facilities in Surrey; he is at Yale Road and she is at Morgan Heights for the past eight months.

Her grandfather has been diagnosed with Lymphoma, a type of cancer and suffering from dementia.  ‘It is the saddest photo I have ever taken’, says Ashley.
