Twin car bomb blasts have been reported at a military base located near Aden airport in Yemen, the incident killed at least six soldiers.

According to military sources quoted by France-Presse News Agency, the attackers detonated an explosive device set in a car near the entrance to the base then they managed to make their way to a military facility, where they blew up a second vehicle.

"The attackers were jihadists," a source said.

Clashes then broke out between troops and attackers in the base, which was sealed off by government forces sent as reinforcements, witnesses said.

The attack came as Muslims celebrated the feast of Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
