Vladimir Putin ordered to shoot down plane carrying 110 passengers over 2014 Sochi Olympics threat

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to shoot down a passenger aircraft carrying a bomb to attack the opening ceremony of 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, according to a documentary.

In the  documentary titled “Putin” , the Russian President told a reporter that he received a telephone call from a security officer on February 7, 2014 in which he was told that a plane en route from Ukraine to Istanbul was seized, captors demand landing in Sochi.

The pilot of the Turkish Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-800 flying from Kharkiv to Istanbul reported that one of the passengers was carrying a bomb and demanding the plane to head towards Sochi.

Putin then ordered security officers to “act according to the plan” and shoot down the plane.

The aircraft was carrying 110 passengers while over 40,000 people had gathered at the stadium to watch the opening ceremony.

After giving the orders, Putin then reached the stadium along with the International Olympic Committee officials.

Minutes later, Putin received another call and was told that it was a false alarm and the passenger who claimed to have a bomb was drunk.

The plane continued its flight and reached its destination safely.
