Will conclude who killed Jamal Khashoggi in next two days: Donald Trump

New Delhi:

The US State Department Saturday refuted all the reports claiming that the investigating agency has reached any conclusion regarding Jamal Khashoggi’s death, according to the news agency ANI. US President Donald Trump said, "It’s a horrible thing that took place, the killing of a journalist. We’ll be having a very full report over the next two days, probably Monday or Tuesday," he said.

“There remain numerous unanswered questions with respect to murder of Mr Khashoggi. The State Department will continue to see all relevant facts,” said spokesperson of the US State Department Heather Nauert in a statement.

Earlier, the Washington Post reported that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) concluded that the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi was ordered by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

According to the report, citing people close to the matter, 15 Saudi agents flew on government aircraft to Istanbul and assassinated Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate. The CIA findings came a day after a Saudi prosecutor cleared the powerful Prince of his involvement in the brutal murder of Khashoggi – a Washington Post columnist.

The CIA investigated multiple intelligence inputs and a phone call between the Saudi Crown Prince’s brother – the Saudi ambassador to the United States – and Khashoggi. Prince’s brother had assured Khashoggi of safety and directed him to visit the Istanbul consulate to collect the documents he needed for his marriage.

The CIA claimed that the ambassador made the phone call on directions of his brother. However, it was not yet clear if the ambassador was also aware of the assassination plan.

Jamal Khashoggi, a US resident, was murdered in Saudi Arabia’s consulate in Istanbul on October 2 and the crown prince has been accused of orchestrating the killing, which has strained the decades-old alliance between Washington and Riyadh.
