No such reasons were listed as yet behind the love making blues. Now the scientists have named it as 'postcoital dysphoria' (PCD) or "post-sex blues."
The condition can be mainly defined with characteristics like tearfulness, a sense of melancholy or depression, anxiety, agitation, or aggression following sexual intercourse.
The research was done on 230 female university students who completed an online survey and nearly 46 percent of the respondents reported experiencing PCD symptoms at least once in their lifetime.
On the other hand, nearly five percent experienced PCD symptoms a few times within the past four weeks.
Well, we must tell you that there is no relationship between PCD and intimacy in close relationships.
According to lead researcher Dr Robert Schweitzer, "The findings build upon our previous research investigating the correlates of sexual functioning in women.”
His study which appeared in the Journal of Sexual Medicine also stated, "The results of our original research in this area have now been confirmed in an international multinational study on negative postcoital emotions, which appear to have evolutionary functions."
