Born On June 11, 1948, Lalu Prasad Yadav Was The Chief Minister Of Bihar From 1990 To 1997 And Minister Of Railways From 2004 To 2009 In The Ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government.
Born on June 11, 1948, Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Chief Minister of Bihar from 1990 to 1997 and Minister of Railways from 2004 to 2009 in the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
Currently he is the President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal political party. He was disqualified as a Member of Parliament of 15th Lok Sabha from the Saran constituency in Bihar owing to conviction for his involvement in the 1996 fodder scam.Lalu entered politics when he was a student at Patna University. In 1977, he became a member of the Lok Sabha as a Janata Party candidate.He was awarded with five years of rigorous imprisonment and ₹25 lakh fine on October 3, 2013 for his involvement in fodder scam.Mentioned below are the positions held by Lalu:1977: Elected to the 6th Lok Sabha at the age of 29.1980–1989: Became member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly (two terms).1989: Became the leader of Opposition, Bihar Legislative Assembly, Chairman, Pustakalaya Committee, Convenor, Committee on Public Undertakings. Re-elected to the 9th Lok Sabha (2nd term).1990–1995: Became member of the Bihar Legislative Council.

Appointed Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Railways.
