Delhi Polls: Congress Candidate Alka Lamba Tries To Slap AAP Worker Over 'Indecent Remark' - Watch
Talking Exclusively To News Nation, Alka Lamba Said That The AAP Worker Had Made An Indecent Remark Against Her Son.
Delhi Assembly Elections: A massive controversy broke out on Saturday after Alka Lamba, Congress candidate from Chandni Chowk, tried to slap an Aam Aadmi Party worker near Majnu ka Teela on Saturday. Amid lukewarm voting in the Delhi Assembly Elections, the video of the ugly tiff has already gone viral. Lamba said that she didn’t lose her cool. Talking exclusively to News Nation, Lamba said that the AAP worker had made an indecent remark against her son. She said that AAP was losing the Delhi Elections and the frustration was clearly evident with the conduct of the AAP workers.
Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that the party will file a complaint to Election Commission of India over the incident. Coming out in Alka Lamba’s support, ex-AAP leader Dr Kumar Vishvas tweeted, “Alka Lamba is a warrior. Her self-respect is her victory,” Without taking name, Dr Vishvas also hit out at the AAP leadership.
Last year, Lamba announced her ‘ghar waapsi’ after she joined the Congress in September. On September 3, Lamba had met Sonia Gandhi at her residence in New Delhi. The meeting had fuelled speculations. “The time has come to say "Good Bye" to #AAP and to resign from the primary membership of the Party. The past 6years journey was a great learning for me. Thanks to all. #ChandniChowk #MLA #AlkaLamba #Delhi #JaiHind (sic),” Lamba had said on micro-blogging site while announcing her decision.
Lamba had been at odds with the Aam Aadmi Party for some time. After the party's defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, she had sought accountability from AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal following which she was removed from the official WhatsApp group of the party lawmakers.
Lamba had also refused to campaign for the party in the Lok Sabha polls and even refrained from participating in Kejriwal's roadshow after she was asked to walk behind his car during the event.
She had claimed that she was being ‘disrespected’ by the party on several occasion. "I am not called to meetings. I am insulted repeatedly. I spent 20 years in the Congress and even there I struggled with family politics but in the AAP, I do not get the basic respect," she claimed.
