Honda City To Soon Get BS-6 Engine, May Have 4 Variants
Honda Cars India Will Soon Launch City With A BS-6 Petrol Engine. Honda City Is Likely To Get Power From 1.5-litre Petrol Engine. The Stringent BS6 Emission Norms Will Come Into Effect From April 1, 2020.
Honda Cars India will soon launch City with a BS-6 petrol engine. It is to be noted that Honda City is one of the most popular models of the automaker in India and rivals against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, and Skoda Rapid.
According to a report of Autocar India, the competent authority has given a type of approval to Honda Cars India's BS6-compliant. Honda City is likely to get power from 1.5-litre petrol engine. The BS6-compliant, 1.5-litre petrol engine powering Honda City that churns out 119 hp, same as the current BS4-compliant, 1.5-litre, water-cooled, SOHC, i-VTEC, 4-cylinder, petrol mill does. The engine will be offered with a standard manual gearbox. However, there is no clarity over the availability of a CVT.
According to a document accessed by Autocar India, Honda City BS6 petrol will be available in four variants -- City 1.5 SV MT, City 1.5 V MT, City 1.5 VX MT and City 1.5 ZX MT. It will have a length of 4,440 mm, a height of 1,495 mm, a width of 1,695 mm and a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
It is worth mentioning here that the stringent BS6 emission norms will come into effect from April 1, 2020.
Currently, Honda City is available in both petrol and diesel engines.
Honda City comes equipped with a BS4-compliant, 1.5-litre, water-cooled, DOHC, i-DTEC, 4-cylinder, diesel motor that belts out 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Honda City is currently available in the price range of Rs 9.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs 14.16 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
