Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Friday announced opening of bookings for its upcoming compact sedan Aura. The Aura, which will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options, can be booked with a down payment of Rs 10,000 at Hyundai website and dealerships, the company said in a statement.

HMIL Director - Sales, Marketing & Service, Tarun Garg said the company is beginning a new decade with the commencement of bookings for the Aura. “We are confident that Hyundai Aura will make a mark in its segment,” he added. The car will be launched on January 21. It will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire, which are priced between Rs 5.82-9.79 lakh, in the compact sedan segment.

Apart from this, Hyundai Venue, which was launched in India in May 2019 at a price of Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), has garnered tremendous customer demand. The automaker has now announced that the bookings for the Venue have crossed the 1 lakh mark. Hyundai Venue comes in both petrol and diesel engines with the petrol being offered with the dual-clutch transmission.

The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor generates 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a dual-clutch transmission while a six-speed manual is also on offer. It comes in four trims - E, S, SX and SX(O). The 1.4-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel produces 89 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

However, the automatic version in the diesel variant is not on offer. On the other hand, the Venue is also available in the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (gasoline motor). It churns out 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque, which is paired with only a 5-speed manual transmission.
