Maruti Suzuki to debut new Swift at Auto Expo, bookings open for hatchback
The New Swift Shall Come Out In Four Trims – L, V, Z And Z+ Across 12 Variants With Two Engine Options.
India's leading auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki will showcase the first look its new Swift at the 2018 Auto Expo. The carmaker has officially started accepting bookings for the much-anticipated hatchback in the country with a booking amount of Rs 11,000.
The new Swift shall come out in four trims – L, V, Z and Z+ across 12 variants with two engine options.
The transmission will be a five-speed manual as standard while the AMT will be available only in the VXi/VDi and ZXi/ZDi trims. The engine options remain the same – the K12 VVT petrol engine and DDiS 190 diesel engine.
On the exterior, the 2018 Swift gets new headlamps with LED projectors and DRLs, similar to the current Dzire. The Swift also gets a refreshed grille and a new bumper as well. There are changes to the side profile as the C-Pillar now gets black cladding, and new door handles on the pillar as well. The rear gets new lamps and a new bumper as well.
The company hasn't come out with the prices yet but we expect the 2018 Swift to start from Rs 5.10 lakh upwards, ex-showroom. Maruti has stated that the prices will be announced at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The car will be underpinned by the rigid and lightweight HEARTECT platform, which also underpins the new Maruti Dzire, Baleno, Vitara Brezza and Ignis. Suzuki has made use of aluminum and reinforced steel in the construction of this platform. Owing to the lightweight yet rigid construction, the new Swift will be far safer and fuel efficient, while offering better performance.
