Tata Motors Is Working On An Alternative Plan To Give A Fresh Lease Of Life To The Small Car. It Is Considering To Transform Nano Into An Electric Vehicle.
Tata Motors' much ambitious Tata Nano's future has been hanging in the balance for past few years.
Nano was launched in the market for the budget-minded Indian middle class but the tiny car was not able to make a mark. The sales have been disappointing and this has been a major concern for Tata Motors.
The company is working on an alternative plan to give a fresh lease of life to the small car. It is considering to transform Nano into an electric vehicle.
There are several indications that Tata Motors is serious about making Nano an electric vehicle. The company's COO Satish Borwankar has said that alternative plans are being considered for the tiny car. He hinted that electric version of Nano is one of them.
Borwankar has clarified that the company has no plans to phase out Tata Nano because of the sentiments attached to it. Shareholders too, don't want the production to be discontinued, he added.
Tata Motors would be making all sort of efforts to ensure the production of Nano is viable.
The company is betting on the electric model alternative and hoping it works out.
