Congress releases list of star campaigners for Punjab, Chandigarh, Udit Raj finds spot
Punjab And Chandigarh Is Going To Polls In The Last And Seventh Phase Of The Lok Sabha Elections That Will Be Held On May 19.
The Congress on Tuesday released the list of star campaigners for Punjab and Chandigarh. Among Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Manmohan Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, the newly inducted Udit Raj, who was a Delhi BJP MP, has found spot. Punjab and Chandigarh is going to polls in the last and seventh phase of the Lok Sabha Elections that will be held on May 19.
In the list 40 star campaigners, the Congress has decided to repose its faith on the Gandhis to take on BJP's star power in Sunny Deol. Right from UPA chief Sonia Gandhi, Congress national president Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is among those “stars” who will land in Punjab and Chandigarh to give an impetus to the party’s poll campaign.
Other than Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, state party affairs in-charge Asha Kumari, and state unit chief Sunil Jakhar have made it to the list. Congress stalwarts including Sheila Dikshit, Ahmed Patel, former Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Union Minister Ambika Soni, party’s national general secretary KC Venugopal, former Union Minister Anand Sharma, and Ranjit Ranjan are also among the star campaigners.
Besides, former Union Minister and party’s candidate from Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency, Pawan Kumar Bansal, has also been included as star campaigner. Party candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahib Manish Tewari’s name was also included in the list.
