Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who generally remains silent and unopinionated on any social or political issues, unless it is a part of his upcoming film’s plot or if he is endorsing a government campaign, shared his views on Supreme Court’s recent order on Triple Talaq.
Recently, during the launch of the ninth season of his show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ was asked to share his views on Supreme Court’s latest order.
A five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India J S Khehar gave a historic verdict that the practice of instant Triple Talaq in the Muslim community is unconstitutional.
The ‘Shamitabh’ star said, “We can’t argue with the law’’.
Mentioning his latest release ‘Pink’, the actor said that it deeply saddens him to see the women who face repressiveness in the society.
He also mentioned one of the instance “On the show, I get to know stories about young girls, who face resistance at home to study further or work. Like there was this girl, whose father wanted her to just get married, and then she earned Rs 25 lakh on the show and she went back to her father and showed him the cheque. So, it is inspiring to see such girls. I did a film, Pink, where we showed how girls defy norms imposed on them by the society’’.
However, apart from Amitabh not many Bollywood celebs have expressed their views on the order.
Meanwhile, celebrities like Hema Malini, Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal has welcomed the order and calls it a victory for women’s dignity.
