Actor Ava Mukherjee, who played Shah Rukh Khan's grandmother in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas', passed away in Mumbai on 15 January. She was 88 at the time. The cause of death is yet unknown. She ventured into acting with the 1966 Bengali film Ram Dhakka but Mukherjee became popular on screen by her grandmotherly roles when she worked in films like Devdas (2002), Darna Zaroori Hain (2006), Detective Naani (2009), and The Firm Land (2009).Before becoming a face in the Bollywood, Mukherjee had worked as a copywriter, translator and writer.
