Why Does Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Bhoot The Haunted Ship’ Trailer Look Eerily Similar To Steve Beck’s ‘Ghost Ship'?
With The Usual, Samara-like-pale, Contortionist Ghost, The Trailer That Hints At A Plot Involving A Child Ghost And A Woman Ghost That Haunts The Ghost-ship, Looks Eerily Similar To Steve Beck’s 2002 Ghost Ship.
Trying their hands on the horror-genre, the Dharma Productions movie, Bhoot The Haunted Ship trailer starring Vicky Kaushal just dropped. With the usual, Samara-like-pale, contortionist ghost, the trailer that hints at a plot involving a child ghost and a woman ghost that haunts the ghost-ship, seems a plot a little all too-familiar. Oh wait! It is a frame to frame copy paste adaptation from Steve Beck’s 2002 Ghost Ship, a horror/slasher movie about a mysterious ship that is haunted by a ghost girl called, Katie Harwood.
Watch the trailer here:
The trailer shows Prithvi (Vicky Kaushal), a surveying officer who is on a mission to trail the origin of the ghost ship and how it landed mysteriously on the shores of Mumbai, a plot originally laid out in Beck’s movie where a ship, out of nowhere, springs up on the Bering Sea. Call it co-incidence, the sub-plots involving a ghost ship that is haunted by ghosts, the woman in a red-dress, the flying weapon objects, the struggle to distinguish between reality and illusion all seems a scene a little too familiar.
Here is the trailer of Beck’s Ghost Ship:
Ironically, the poster of this Vicky Kaushal's movie also got itself embroiled in yet another plagiarism-controversy last week when, movie-monger netizens pointed out how the poster looks shockingly similar to critically-acclaimed Malayalam film Jallikattu. The poster which has Vicky being strangled by several scary hands looks much similar to a scene in the 2019’s Indian Malayalam-language action film starring Chemban Vinod Jose.
Also starring Bhumi Pednekar, Bhoot: The Haunted Ship co-produced by Shashank Khaitan is set to release on February 21.
