Indeed, with the modernisation of the music industry, the genre of songs too have seen a transition. However, sufi is one genre which doesn't seem to fade away with the change in time.
In fact, the sufi songs and qawwali continues to maintain its originality and be a gem of Indian culture.
One such gem of this genre happens to be acclaimed qawwali singer Aslam Sabri.
In his exclusive interview with News Nation, Aslam Sabri got candid about his genre and songs.
Talking about the qawwali, Sabri stated, "It is quite difficult to describe the genre in one 'sher' (poetry). It is more about repeating what has been said in a sufiana manner".
The veteran singer also spoke about his much famous song, 'Jaane Ghazal' and said that he had sung the song 40 years back and he still enjoys the popularity of the song. He even thanked for all the love he has received the song he has received for decades.
Aslam Sabri has now come up with a new ghazal 'Umr Guzri Meri' which said to be based on the tunes of 'Rashqe Qamar'. The song is expected to be released soon.
