Ryan Murphy slams Dolce & Gabbana on controversial comments
After Elton John, ‘Glee’ Producer Ryan Murphy Has Slammed Domenico Dolce And Stefano Gabbana For Their Controversial Comments About Same-sex Adoption.
After Elton John, ‘Glee’ producer Ryan Murphy has slammed Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for their controversial comments about same-sex adoption.
Murphy said he was throwing the designers’ clothes “in the trash” and urged Hollywood to do the same, said the Hollywood Reporter.
The producer, who has two children with husband David Miller, said he was outraged by the designers’ opposition to IVF and same-sex adoption and is joining the boycott against the label’s clothes.
“It’s so ignorant of Dolce & Gabbana to speak out with such ugly evil what they said is a not-modern thing to say. There are all kinds of families today,” Murphy said.
In the Italian magazine Panorama, Dolce said he thought children born via IVF were “synthetic” from “wombs for rent” and that “the only family is the traditional one. Life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed. One is the family.”
“The family is not a fad. In it there is a supernatural sense of belonging,” Gabbana had said.
The remarks drew a lot of criticism from the celebrities like Elton John, Victoria Beckham, Courtney Love and Ricky Martin.
In separate statements both Dolce and Gabbana said the opinions were their personal view and not judgements.
“We firmly believe in democracy and the fundamental principle of freedom of expression that upholds it. We talked about our way of seeing reality, but it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices,” Gabbana said.
