Argentinian slips into coma after falling from stage during performance
The Incident Happened At The Mercedes Sosa Theatre In Tucuman, A City In North-west Argentina.
Sergio Denis, a 69-year-old singer from Argentina suffered head injuries while he tipped off from the stage during a live performance. The singer is currently in an induced coma and breathing with the aid of a ventilator.
The incident happened at the Mercedes Sosa theatre in Tucuman, a city in north-west Argentina.
Denis, real name Héctor Omar Hoffmann, plunged several feet into an open orchestra pit. Fans watching him perform tried to reach to his held but it was already late. He was immediately taken to the hospital.
Mirror reported that his girlfriend Veronica Monti revealed he had called her minutes before starting his Monday night show to say he was tired and felt like going to bed instead of doing his show.
She added: "We’re hoping to have better news later today." His condition is critical.
Denis was performing a romantic ballad which was one of his career's hit number 'Te Llamo para despedirme' - which translates as 'I’m calling you to say goodbye' - when he fell.
In May 2007, the singer suffered a cardiac arrest while in the Paraguayan capital Asuncion.
