After being granted bail in 2008 Malegaon blast case, Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit walked out of Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai on Wednesday. He was released from jail after 9 years.
After his release, Army vehicles were seen escorting the Malegaon blast case accused. As per reports, Lt Col Purohit would be attached to an Army unit even as he will remain suspended.
Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit reached Colaba Military Station after being released from Taloja Jail.
Reports quoting Army sources said that his suspension could be revoked after review.
Under suspension, he will reportedly be treated as "under open arrest", wherein usually a soldier is supposed to wear only his uniform. Under suspension, Purohit can wear civilian clothes as well.
His stay in his Army unit will come along with restrictions, an agency report said, like limited area of movement, not leave the station without permission and reporting daily.
He will also not be allowed to attend any public event or gathering, it said.
