4 passengers aboard Kerala Express die in UP's Jhansi
While Three Of The Passengers Had Died Inside The Train, One Was Admitted To A Nearby Hospital Where He Died During Treatment.
Four passengers on board the Kerala Express died near in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, which has been in the grip of a heat wave for two weeks. According to reports, passengers - all of them in the age group of 70 to 90 - died due to extreme heat.
The passengers travelling on the Kerala Express train on Monday evening complained of uneasiness and by the time the train reached Jhansi, they had expired.
While three of the passengers had died inside the train, one was admitted to a nearby hospital where he died during treatment.
"A doctor team was sent to the train after they complained of ill health & they were checked at Jhansi railway station. Three were declared dead at the spot while one was admitted to hospital where he died during treatment," Manoj Kumar Singh, PRO Railway, Jhansi, said.
Divisional Railway Manager Neeraj Ambisht said that the bodies would be sent to Coimbatore on Tuesday after post mortem.
The four passengers were a part of a 68-member group that was returning after visiting Varanasi and Agra.
"Shortly after we left Agra, the heat became unbearable and some people started complaining of breathing problems and uneasiness. Before we could get some help, they collapsed," a member of the group was quoted as saying by IANS.
The deceased have been identified as Bundur Palanisame, 80, Bal Krishna Ramaswami (69), Chinnare (71), Dhiva Nai (71) and Subbaraiyya (71).
