5 Acre Land To Be Allotted To Sunni Wakf Board In Ayodhya: Supreme Court
In a unanimous Ayodhya verdict of 5:0, the Supreme Court gave the entire 2.77 acre of disputed land to the Hindu side on Saturday. Additionally, the top court allotted 5-acre land to to the Sunni Central Wakf Board in Ayodhya. “Act of placing the idol below the central dome of the disputed structure during the night intervening December 22 and 23 was challenged after the expiry of limitation period. Hence, it's time-barred,” the top court said. The top court further said that “Possession as claimed by Muslims cannot meet the threshold of adverse possession.” (LIVE UPDATES HERE)
The site was occupied by the 16th century Babri mosque which was destroyed by Hindu kar sevaks on December 6, 1992. The bench, also comprising Justices S A Bobde, D Y Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer, said possession of the disputed 2.77 acre land rights will handed over to the deity Ram Lalla, who is one of the three litigants in the case. The possession however will remain with a central government receiver.
