A five-year-old boy fell into an abandoned borewell in Imrotha village in Jhansi while playing on Thursday evening, official said.
Nikhil fell into the 40-50 ft deep borewell while his family members were working in the fields, District Magistrate Ajay Shukhla said.
Jal board and municipal corporation officials have started the digging work to rescue the boy, he said.
