Advocate HS Phoolka resigns from AAP, to brief media today
HS Phoolka Will Address Media Media Tomorrow At 4pm At Press Club, Raisina Road
Days after resigning from Punjab Assembly, senior lawyer HS Phoolka has resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). "I have resigned from AAP & handed over resignation to Kejriwal ji today. Though he asked me not to resign but I insisted," he tweeted. He will address media tomorrow at 4 pm at Press Club, Raisina Road, New Delhi to explain the reason behind his decision.
"Will be briefing media tomorrow at 4 pm at Press Club, Raisina Rd, New Delhi to explain the Reason of leaving AAP & my further plans," the senior lawyer said. According to reports, Phoolka was unhappy with the AAP since the party moved a resolution to withdraw Bharat Ratna conferred upon former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.Â
The other probable reason behind his resignation from the party is reports of prospects of AAP forging an alliance with the Congress. Phoolka, who represented the victims of anti-Sikh riot had got emotional when former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar was convicted. "It's a huge victory. This moment has come after 34 years," Phoolka had said.
Earlier, Phoolka had resigned as a legislator from the Punjab Assembly. He took this step over state government's alleged 'failure' to initiate action against those behind the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and the police firing in October 2015 on those protesting against the sacrilege.
