In an encounter, Madhya Pradesh Police killed 8 Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists after jailbreak. According to Police, the encounter took place in the Itkheri area in the outskirts of Bhopal. These SIMI activists have various cases registered against them.
Background of 8 SIMI activists:
Sheikh Mujeeb: Accused in 2008 blast in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Mujeeb was accused of collaborating with extremist organization Indian Mujahedeen (IM) for Ahmedabad blast. The Ahmedabad blast took lives of at least 50 people.
Sheikh Mehboob: He was also accused in 2008 Ahmedabad blast. Apart from this, he is also accused of taking terrorist training in Kerala’s Ernakulum and also carried out terrorists operations there.
Aqeel Khilji: He is accused of planning murder of main leaders of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Aqeel was arrested from Maharashtra in 2012.
Mohammad Khalid: Many cases of murder, robbery and treason were registered against him. One of them was a robbery case in Telangana’s Karimnagar. Along with Ahmedabad, he was also accused of carrying out attacks on Pune, Chennai and Bijnor.
Mohammad Saliq: He is accused of planning terror attacks with other SIMI activists. Many cases are also running against him.
Abdul Majid: He is accused of murder, robbery and treason. Along with Ahmedabad, he was also accused of carrying out attacks on Pune, Chennai and Bijnor. Later, he was also accused in robbery conducted in Telangana’s Karimnagar.
Zakir Hussain: He was accused in Bijnor blast. He is also accused of killing security personnel, bank official and an advocate. Bijnor blast happened at the time when few youngsters were making bombs in rented flats. Many cases are also registered against him in Ujjain, Dewas, Ratlam and Mandsaur.
Amjad Khan: Accused in attacks on the chief of BJP’s youth front, RSS activists and five bank robberies.
