BJP president Amit Shah on Monday said the tragic incidents like Gorakhpur BRD Medical College deaths have not happened for the first time as the nation has witnessed several similar tragedies in the past.

While replying to Congress party’s demand for chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s resignation over deaths of more than 70 children in Gorakhpur hospital since August 7, Shah hit back at Congress party, saying that it is the job of the grand old party to demand resignation.

The BJP president was talking to reporters in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Congress party president Raj Babbar staged a protest in Lucknow demanding Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath's resignation and SC-monitored probe in the matter. Later, he was detained by the police.
