At least 54 students of IIIT Nuzvid in Andhra Pradesh were suspended on Monday for allegedly ragging juniors in the campus last month. It is the biggest crackdown in the state, officials said.
The students were suspended after a disciplinary committee formed to probe the August 29 incident submitted its report on Monday. It recommended to suspend the students, an official said.
While speaking about the incident, Nuzvid IIIT Administration Officer (AO) Rama Kanth said, "A total of 54 students--in their third and fourth years--have been suspended for varying durations ranging from two weeks to one year for ragging junior students on the campus."

The senior students allegedly assaulted around 12 students of the prestigious institute on August 29.
Following the incident, the Vice-Chancellor and the Director of the institute constituted the disciplinary committee to look into the incident.
