A three-storey building collapsed flat to the ground within seconds in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur on Saturday. However, no casualties have been reported so far as the inmates had been evacuated just a few days ago.
The Guntur Municipal Corporation recently started widening roads and removing encroachments. They also issued a notice to an owner of the building to demolish part of the building.
The local people denounced the contractors assigned by the Guntur Municipal Corporation for digging the drains close to the building. They also added that tenants had complained that building was shaking and expressed their fear.
An investigation of the site had been done by Municipal Commissioner C. Anuradha, according to him notices had been served Mr. Rao to evacuate the building. She also added that the there was a lack of structural safety in the building.
As the building collapsed, within seconds the video footage of the building coming down went viral.
