Armed robbers shot dead a bride and looted jewellery, after crashing into a marriage party on the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, the police said on Saturday.
The incident happened on Friday night near Matore village of Meerut area, and the groom with four other relatives were left injured in the attack, added the police.
The victims were returning to the village after a wedding ceremony in Ghaziabad, the police said.
Six armed men, inside two cars, interrupted the marriage party on its way back.
Farhana, the bride was killed by the robbers after resisting, Senior Superintendent of Police Manjil Saini said.
Jewellery worth lakh and a car was looted and the police have started a search operation to catch the guilty, Ms Saini added.
The bride was rushed to the Muzzafarnagar Medical College, where she was declared dead by the doctors.
A case has been registered and the police is investigating the matter.
