Army chief dismisses UN report on human rights violation in Kashmir
Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Wednesday dismissed the United Nations report on alleged human rights violations in Kashmir and termed it "motivated".
On the sidelines of an event in Delhi, Rawat said that Indian Army was a highly professional force, therefore, he felt that there was no need to be concerned about the UN report.
"I don't need to speak about the human rights record of the Indian Army. It is well known to all of you, it is well known to the people of Kashmir, and to the international community.”
“I don't think we should get too concerned about the report, some of these reports are motivated," the Army chief said.
Earlier on Thursday last week, The United Nations said that India and Pakistan had been using excessive force in both sides of Kashmir and killed many civilians since 2016.
In its first-ever report on human rights violation in the region, the UN called for an international level inquiry into the alleged mass graves Kashmir and violation of human rights in the Valley.
India vehemently rejected the "fallacious, tendentious and motivated” report, saying that it was "overtly prejudiced" and sought to build a "false narrative".
