'India Not Chicken's Neck, Can't Be Broken Or Separated': Owaisi Slams Sharjeel Imam's 'Cut Off Assam' Remark
Delhi Police Booked Sharjeel Imam On Sunday For Allegedly Delivering Inflammatory Speeches Against The Amended Citizenship Act (CAA) And The Planned National Register Of Citizens (NRC).
AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has slammed Sharjeel Imam for his "cut off Assam" remark saying 'India was not a chicken's neck that can be broken or separated'. Imam, one of co-ordinators of the Shaheen Bagh protest, was allegedly heard saying that 'Assam should be cut off from the rest of India and taught a lesson' on a viral audio clip.
"Do you know what is happening to Assamese Muslims? NRC is already applied there, they have been put in detention centres. We may come to know that in 6-8 months all Bengalis have been killed - Hindu or Muslim. If we want to help Assam, then we will have to stop the way to Assam for the Indian Army and other supplies. The 'Chicken Neck' belongs to the Muslims," he purportedly said in the clip.
Delhi Police booked Sharjeel Imam on Sunday for allegedly delivering inflammatory speeches against the amended Citizenship Act (CAA) and the planned National Register of Citizens (NRC). Aligarh Police and Assam Police have also registered FIRs against Imam for his controversial remarks. A case of sedition was lodged against Imam on Saturday for a speech he delivered on the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus on January 16. The Assam police has also filed an FIR under the anti-terror law UAPA against Imam for his speech.
