Five states - Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram - are gearing up to hold assembly elections starting November 12 through December 7. The Election Commission on October 6 announced the election dates: Chhattisgarh in two phases - November 12 & 20, Madhya Pradesh - November 28, Mizoram - November 28, Rajasthan - December 7, Telangana - December 7.

And counting of votes, according to the EC, will be held on December 11.
