The Supreme Court On Thursday Made It Clear That It Is Treating The Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi Matter As A Land Dispute And Refused To Allow Any Third-party Intervention At This Stage.
The Supreme Court on Thursday made it clear that it is treating the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi matter as a "land dispute" and refused to allow any third-party intervention at this stage.
Reacting to a lawyer’s plea seeking intervention in the matter saying it was related to the faith of crores of Hindus, a bench of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and Justices Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer said, “We can’t address these kind of arguments. We are treating it as a land dispute. There are appeals and cross-appeals.”
“Applications for impleadment and intervention shall be considered at the appropriate time,” the bench told another lawyer representing 32 activists and wanted to implead in the matter.

The Supreme Court was hearing 14 appeals filed against the September 30, 2010 order of Allahabad High Court dividing the disputed Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi site in three parts between the Nirmohi Akhara sect, the Sunni Central Wakf Board of UP, and Ramlalla Virajman.
The Allahabad High Court order was challenged in the Supreme Court, which stayed the HC ruling and ordered status quo at the disputed site.
The apex court also asked parties to file the English translation documents exhibited which include Ramayana, Ramcharitmanas and the Bhagavad Gita.
