Babri demolition case: Advani, MM Joshi, Uma Bharti, and 11 other leaders should be tried in Lucknow court, CBI tells SC
The Lucknow Bench Of Allahabad High Court Had Acquitted The Leaders Of The Charges Under Criminal Conspiracy In The Babri Demolition Case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday said in Supreme Court that all 14 people, including senior BJP leaders Advani, MM Joshi and Uma Bharti, should be tried in Lucknow court.
The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court had acquitted the leaders of the charges under criminal conspiracy in the Babri demolition case.
Highlights of what the CBI told the apex court during hearing in the Babri Demolition case -
"14 persons, including BJP leaders, acquitted of the charges under criminal conspiracy, should be tried in Lucknow Court.""In Rai Bareilly Court, 57 witnesses had already been examined & 100 or more are likely to be examined.""There are two FIRs registered against all the accused in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case.""Criminal conspiracy charges were dropped against 21 accused, including several BJP leaders on technical grounds.""Lucknow bench of the Allahabad HC had upheld lower court order." The argument in the case is underway in the apex court.
