Seeing to the safety and security of the fairers sex exclusive pink autos were started and a coach was dedicated for them in Delhi Metro. Now, female four-wheeler drivers in Bengaluru will no longer have to worry of finding a parking spot for themselves.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to mark 20 percent of parking space for female-drivers in the city.
Bengaluru Mayor Sampath Raj talking to News Nation said, “As a pilot project we have started the initiative at Brigade Road.”
He added in the initial project we have associated with Brigade Shops and Establishment Association (BSEA). There are total of 85 parking slots available for four-wheelers at the establishment and 10 have been marked for cars driven by women.
The mayor added that the idea behind the initiative has been initiated to help women drivers find parking easily. “This will help them park vehicles near to their destination, which will also help in curbing crime,” added the mayor.
The women like earlier parking system will have to go to the pay-and-park kiosks and buy the tickets. Parking fee is Rs 5 for the first two hours and Rs 15 for four to six hours.
The Karnataka transport department has issues 1.47 crore license out which 21.17 lakhs are issued to female. According to the department out of the total license issued to the females 40 percent are in Bengaluru.
