BJP leader Vinay Katiyar claims Delhi’s Jama Masjid was originally ‘Jamuna Devi temple’
The BJP Parliamentarian Claimed That Delhi’s Famous 17 Century Mosque Jama Masjid Was Known As ‘Jamuna Devi Temple’ Before Delhi Was Ruled By The Mughals.
Two months back, BJP parliamentarian Vinay Katiyar had claimed that the seventh wonder of the world Taj Mahal was made on a Lord Shiva Temple. And now, the saffron party leader has courted a fresh controversy by claiming that the Jama Masjid in Delhi too was originally a temple.
Talking to ANI on Thursday Katiyar said, “Jama Masjid was was known as Jamuna Devi Temple.”
He claimed that Delhi’s famous 17 century mosque Jama Masjid was known as ‘Jamuna Devi Temple’ before Delhi was ruled by the Mughals.
Jama Masjid was built by Shah Jahan, who also built Taj Mahal and Red Fort.

Katiyar’s remark on Taj Mahal had sparked a political row. Another BJP MLA had demanded that names of Mughal emperors Babur, Akbar and Aurangzeb be removed from history books. He had also termed them as traitors.
The issue subdued after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the Taj Mahal.
