Radha Krishna Mathur Appointed First Lieutenant Governor Of Ladakh
RK Mathur Has Served As The Defence Secretary And Is A Former Chief Information Commissioner (CIC).
President of India has appointed retired IAS officer Radha Krishna Mathur as the first Lieutenant Governor of and Ladakh, an official communication said on Friday. Mathur, a 1977-batch officer, has served as the defence secretary and is a former Chief Information Commissioner (CIC). He was also the Chief Secretary of Tripura.
Girish Chandra Murmu, a 1985-batch Gujarat cadre officer, has been appointed as new Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Murmu is serving as the Expenditure Secretary in the Union Finance Ministry. Murmu is considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister and BJP President Amit Shah, and had served as Principal Secretary to Modi when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The two Union Territories will come into existence on October 31. The Modi government had on August 5 abrogated provisions of Article 370 that granted a special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The incumbent governor of the state, Satya Pal Malik, has been moved to Goa, a Rashtrapati Bhawan statement said.
Besides Murmu, PS Sreedharan Pillai, Kerala BJP president, has been appointed as the new Governor of Mizoram, while RK Mathur has been appointed the new Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, an official communication said on Friday.
