The Incident Came Soon After It Was Reported That An Army Jawan Was Kidnapped By Suspected Terrorists From His Residence At Qazipora Chadura In Central Kashmir's Budgam District.
Suspected Kashmiri terrorists snatched an AK-47 rifle and dozens of bullets from the Protective Service Officer (PSO) of Kishtwar's deputy commissioner in the busy Shaheedi Mazar area on Friday night, sources said. Senior police officials have rush to the spot and cordoned off the area. The incident came soon after it was reported that an army jawan was kidnapped by suspected terrorists from his residence at Qazipora Chadura in Central Kashmir's Budgam district.
According to reports, the abducted jawan has been identified as Mohammad Yaseen Bhat. Yaseen, posted with Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regiment, was on leave from February 26 to March 31. A massive search operation has been launched by special operation group along with the army and Jammu & Kashmir police.
The family of Yaseen informed police that some people came to their house at Qazipora Chadura and took him away.
The kidnapping came at a time when the Army, and other security forces, in the Valley have been put on high alert following the face-off with Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack on February 14 in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
