Bihar Police Arrested Two Youths For Allegedly Beating And Robbing A British Couple Camping On The Bank Of River Ganga In Patna.
Bihar Police arrested two youths for allegedly harassing, beating and robbing a British couple camping on the bank of river Ganga in Patna.
The British couple somehow managed to escape the duo criminals and lodged a complaint with the Patna police with the help of locals on Monday evening.
Police said, the British couple — Matthew Kidd, 30, and 28-year-old Jessica Kidd are school-teachers in Scotland’s Glasgow — are on a 78-day journey from Haridwar to Howrah sailing on the the river Ganga. The two had stopped near Pandarak in Bihar’s Patna district to rest when they were attacked by miscreants.
The British couple in their complaint have mentioned that two youths manhandled and harassed them and tried looting them. According to the complaint filed by the Matthew, the two youths had sticks and sharp weapons.
Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said, “A special team was formed soon after we received a complaint from the British couple. Sketch was made and raids were carried out on the river -waters and bank sides.”
“The youths were arrested from the banks of river Ganga and the couple have restarted their sail in Howrah,” added the SSP.
