Bus overturns in Mumbai-Pune expressway, 26 passengers injured
The Injured Were Taken To Sanjivani Hospital In Lonavala And Lokmanya Hospital In Nigdi. Although The Road Was Blocked By The Bus For Half An Hour, The Highway Police Showed Great Efficiency To Smoothen The Traffic Within Half An Hour.
At least 26 people were injured after a luxury bus they were travelling in overturned on Mumbai-Pune expressway on Tuesday afternoon. The police said that the driver was was travelling at high speed. As the driver took a turn at Lonavala Bridge near Valvan, he lost controland hit the railings of the bridge.
The injured were taken to Sanjivani hospital in Lonavala and Lokmanya hospital in Nigdi. Although the road was blocked by the bus for half an hour, the highway police showed great efficiency to smoothen the traffic within half an hour.
Chandrakant Patil, police inspector, Lonavala rural, said, “Sidhershwar Travels Bus (MH04/GP/4747) travelling from Mumbai to Karad via expressway turned over near Valvan village in Lonavala at km 55:100. The bus had 52 passengers. 26 passengers got injured. In which 5 including two kids, two women and one man got seriously injured. Nine got fractured and three are casually injured. They are taken to Lokmanya Hospital, in Nigdi near Pune. Most of the passengers are from Satara and Sangli.”

Most of the injured are believed to be from Mumbai and Lonavala police are investigating the reasons of the accident.
