CBI unconstitutional? Centre files appeal against Gauhati HC order
Unfazed By The Gauhati High Court Order, The CBI Director Said It's Business As Usual For Us And The Order Will Have No Bearing On The Cases Being Handled By CBI.
Government on Saturday filed an appeal in Supreme Court against the Gauhati High Court order taking the ground of Section 2 of DPSE Act which empowers CBI to work as a special forcce.
Seeking a stay on the Gauhati High Court order, the Centre moved Supreme Court against the court's order of terming CBI as unconstitutional.
"The Union of India filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Saturday which is likely to be heard on Monday," CBI Director Ranjit Sinha said.
Unfazed by the Gauhati High Court order, the CBI Director said "it's business as usual for us and the order will have no bearing on the cases being handled by CBI."
On Friday Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal said, "The government will file an appeal in Supreme Court against Gauhati HC order declaring CBI unconstitutional."Meanwhile, Baba Ramdev on Friday raised serious questions on Congress's functioning by saying that the party itself is unconstitutional.On Thursday, the Gauhati High Court struck down the resolution through which the Central Bureau Investigation was set up and held all its actions as "unconstitutional".
