Chidambaram: Regret in life that I was never Finance Minister in absolute majority govt
While Talking To Reporters In Ahmedabad, Chidambaram Said, “The Only Regret In My Life Will Be That I Was Never Finance Minister In A Government With An Absolute Majority.'
Former finance minister and senior Congress leader on Tuesday said that he has only regret in his life that he had never served as finance minister in a government with absolute majority.
While talking to reporters in Ahmedabad, Chidambaram said, “The only regret in my life will be that I was never Finance Minister in a Government with an absolute majority.â€
He said that development cannot be measured by introducing bullet train. But a better healthcare, cleaner air, toilets are the parameters of development, he said.
“'Vikas' cannot be measured by simply saying that I am going to get a bullet train for Rs 1 lakh crore. Development does not mean headline grabbing stories, it means better healthcare, cleaner air, toilets, transportation, gender justice,†the former finance minister said.
A few days back, the former minister had hit out at Modi government for enforcing the GST without proper planning. In a tweet he had said, “Thanks to Gujarat elections, Govt forced to heed advice of Opposition and experts on flaws in implementation of GST.â€
