CAB: After Brief Closure, DMRC Reopens Entry And Exit At Patel Chowk, Janpath Metro Stations
As Advised By Delhi Police, Entry And Exit At Patel Chowk And Janpath Have Been Closed. Trains Will Not Be Halting At These Stations, Says DMRC.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reopened the entry and exit of Patel Chowk and Janpath metro station after the corporation closed the same after Delhi Police's advisory. Earlier today, the services were halted in these two metro stations after the students of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University clashed with police personnel who interrupted their protest march opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
According to the latest updates, the traffic movement has also been closed from Sansad Marg towards Tolstoy Marg (both carriageways) due to demonstration.
The protesters had called for a march to Parliament House from the university campus to express their opposition to the legislation. However, they were stopped near the varsity where protesters clashed with the police.
The students accused the police of using force against them.
