Two corporators of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation were disqualified by the civic chief on Friday for allegedly “engaging and promoting unauthorised constructions” in its jurisdiction.
The action against Shivram Patil and his wife Anita Shivram Patil, both corporators from Shiv Sena, were initiated after complaints were filed against them.
Shivram Patil was the chairman of the standing committee which takes decisions on day-to-day financial matters.
NMMC commissioner Tukaram Mundhe told PTI, “Corporation had received several plaints against the duo following which inquiry was constituted. Complaints were verified and a few hearings also took place.
“Following all the laid-down procedure, I decided to disqualify both of them under section 10 (1D) of the Maharashtra Municipal Council Act,” Mundhe said.
Earlier in July this year, three corporators, Navin Gavate, Aparna Gavate and Deepa Rajesh Gavate, were disqualified on the same charges by Mundhe.
