Cop on Wednesday thrashed a group of Dalit students protesting over scholarship scam in Patna. The pictures of the incident were tweeted by a news agency.
Earlier this year, Nitish Kumar government landed in controversy as a scholarship scam surfaced in Nawada district of Bihar. Of the total of 60 students given scholarships in 2015 for the session 2012-13, only one was found genuine in a probe conducted by the district administration.The amount disbursed for the scholarships was Rs 1.03 crore. The SC and ST department pays an annual tuition fee of Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh to each of scholarship rewarded students.
