India on Friday will evacuate another batch of about 120 Indians from coronavirus-hit Iran on Friday. The Air India flight carrying 120 Indians will land at Jaisalmer Airport from Iran and they will be quarantined at an Army facility, a defence spokesperson said on Thursday.
“They will be quarantined at an Indian Army facility created under the aegis of Southern Command. The patients will be transferred from the airport post their initial screening to the quarantine facility under escort of civil administration”, news agency PTI quotes defence spokesperson Col Sombit Ghosh as saying.
He added that New Delhi will airlift another batch of 250 people on March 15 and they will also be quarantined at the Army facility in Jaisalmer.

The Ministry of Defence has set up seven more quarantine facilities at Jaisalmer, Suratgadh, Jhansi, Jodhpur, Deolali, Kolkata and Chennai for COVID-19 suspects and patients, who are being brought back from coronavirus-hit countries.
Earlier on Tuesday, IAF’s C-17 Globemaster, a military transport aircraft, brought back 58 Indians from coronavirus-hit Iran. The aircraft, a C-17 Globemaster, was sent to Tehran on Monday evening.
Moreover, Iran on Thursday announced that another 75 people had died of the new coronavirus, taking the overall toll to 429 out of more than 10,000 infections.

It was the highest single-day death toll in the three weeks since the Islamic republic announced its first deaths from the outbreak last month.
Meanwhile, Iran has sought immediate financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak, in what would be its first such loan in decades.
