A CRPF commando on Sunday allegedly committed suicide at his camp in Sunabeda in Odisha.
Officials said the incident was reported early on Sunday when CoBRA commando and Head Constable Shankar Prasad was found lying in a pool of blood after he allegedly shot himself with his service rifle.
They said the deceased commando belonged to the 202nd battalion of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) deployed in the state for anti-Naxal operations in Sunabeda in Koraput district of the state. CoBRA is the elite jungle warfare unit of the Central Reserve Police Force.
They said senior CRPF and state police officials have reached the spot and a Court of Inquiry has been ordered by the paramilitary to ascertain as to why Prasad took the extreme step.
