The Cyberabad police in Hyderabad arrested a man in connection with the murder of a teenage girl whose body was found on Monday. Police identified the accused as Mohammad Akbar, a vegetable vendor.
Akbar knew the 14 year-old-girl and allegedly persuaded her to elope with him, the police said. When the girl met Akbar on Monday carrying some jewellery and Rs 40,000 in cash, he allegedly took her to an isolated spot in Gandipet area and made sexual advances towards her which she rejected, police said.
"The accused then hit her on the forehead with a stone repeatedly. He also tied her hands with a piece of cloth and gagged her. The girl died on the spot and Akbar fled," police said. CCTV footage from the area shows the victim arriving at the spot with the accused on a black motor-bike. Further probe is on.
