Former Delhi Police Commissioner Y S Dadwal and retired IAS officer G S Patnaik have been appointed as advisors to the Arunachal Pradesh Governor after the Centre today brought the state under President’s rule.
“The two officials have been appointed as advisors to Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa,” an official source said.
While Dadwal is a 1974-batch IPS officer who retired in 2011 from paramilitary SSB after being the Delhi Police chief, Patnaik is a 1980-batch IAS officer who retired after serving in the Delhi government in various capacities.
The Centre today brought the northeastern state under President’s rule and kept the Assembly under suspended animation after more than a month of political turmoil and in the midst of a raging battle in the Supreme Court.
The Centre’s decision came under strong attack from Congress and other parties which called it a “murder” of democracy.
