The Defence Ministry Tonight Denied That The Name Of Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag Has Been Recommended To The Prime Minister's Office For Appointment As The Next Chief Of Army Staff.

The Defence Ministry tonight denied that the name of Lt Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag has been recommended to the Prime Minister's Office for appointment as the next chief of army staff."A report this evening saying that the Ministry of Defence had recommended the name of Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt General Dalbir Singh Suhag to the Prime Minister's Office for appointment as the next COAS is totally baseless and is hereby denied," Defence Ministry spokesperson Sitanshu Kar said.Army chief General Bikram Singh is due to retire on July 31 and his successor is to be named before that.
